Great read which shows the bravery on both sides, especially the German challenges. A very compassionate book and a must for those who may have lived during the time of the story.

This is the greatest book I have read!!! It will not disappoint. As an aviation historian and a flight instructor, I can say with truthfulness that this book's accuracy is unparalleled. I await the day this will become a motion picture. Highly recommended.

One of the most humanizing books I have read. Goodness and honor emerge from organized chaos.

An amazing book--my father served in the Pacific as a PBY navigator and my uncle was a B17 bombardier shot down over Germany and put in Stalag 1 for 2 years---both came home. I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in WW II history.

A wonderfully balanced view from both sides of two great air forces of WWII!
  • Superbly written and researched story

There was no shortage of research that went into this book. But rather than being dry and emphasizing facts, the author conveyed the tragedy and beauty that these airmen experienced. I expected to read about a mission, but gained insight into the background that shaped the men who were foes over the battlefield and who found the strength to be human.

Best book I have read in years. Thanks to the author for taking the time to tell the stories of the greatest generation, they can never be forgotten for the sacrifices they made. Shows the humanity of soldiers from both sides.
