Excellent Beginner's Book!!
Since finishing this book I feel so much more knowledgable about my DSLR camera functions, photography in general, and how to take great shots with including very important information into the process of taking a photo which has drastically improved the quality and detail in my photographs. This book is the starting point to great photography and I highly recommend it!
Wish I had this when I first got my camera!
Great book for beginners. I've spend the past year trying to figure this out for myself, and learned more in the first chapter than I was able to figure out on my own. He explains things in very clear and easy to understand terms. I highly recommend it.

Great tips. Missing images in iPad version
By Bill Lake, Va
There were a lot of good tips for the beginner in this book. Good, specific advice about brands to buy or avoid in cameras, software, and accessories.
The iPad book version referenced a lot of photos that were not present. I expected a lot more visual examples but this version surprisingly only had 6 or 7 photos in it.
Great book for DSLR owners
PROS: Great information for new dslr owners or people just getting into photography. I would have spent an eternity finding all this info on a thousand sites online and probably wouldn't have understood it still. The writer has a really casual no-nonsense writing style and does a good job of explaining difficult concepts in an easy way. I also liked the quick tips sections.
CONS: It's missing some pictures and there are some typos. Also, there isn't a lot of extremely technical information.
Definitely worth $5. That's the same price as a farting app on the iPad! J/k.
I like the book, but the electronic version is missing many photos that are referenced in the text. For a photography book, this a big miss.
