The Whispering Room
Read The Silent Corner all night, finished with The Whispering Room the next night. These books are so well written, a horrifying plot, great characters, heart pounding action and suspense, that I could not stop reading them. Now I am left with an unbearable thirst until the next book is released. Jane Hawk rules!!!
I have a friend,RIP Hardy,to thank for introducing me to this amazing writer, some 27 years ago. I’ve passed on Dean Koontz to all my reading friends. This new series you started Mr Knootz had me from page one. Thank you for introducing Jane Hawke to me and my husband. May she live on to combat the evils of our world.
Muddled and slow paced
This author has always prided himself on his large vocabulary and in his earlier works he wove it in well without slowing down the pace of the action… With the crafting of this story he slows the pace of the action by trying to add as much unrealistic and unneeded dialogue as possible. He’s always used brilliant children in his novels but somehow these kids have a vocabulary at the PhD level. Which makes those of us with only a masters wonder what in the hell he’s talking about. This is one of his best storylines he had in years and yet it is ruined by having to wade through his quicksand of vocabulary. I’ve tried to restart it three times to get into it, but each time I get bored by the slow pace of action and uninteresting dialogue. I miss the old days :(
The Whispering Room

A good plot line is suffocated by the author’s rambling bloated pompous descriptive phrasing. The ending is anticlimactic and boring. Not one of author ‘s best works.
Quite a page turner!
This one had me read faster than I have in years. Plenty of action to keep you in anticipation of the next page. A few surprises and one or two things that didn’t quite add up but a good and exciting read! But I still miss Odd Thomas...
The whispering Room

Too much unnecessary detail & description makes it tedious waiting for the action & progression of the plot. Am tired of looking up words that seem to make the author feel superior to his readers. The author's early novels were far more enjoyable and his wonderful characters a high point in the stories.
